About 12:20am today, a man was working in the petrol station near Hughes Street and the Princes Highway when he was approached by a man wearing a balaclava.
He was threatened with a rifle and forced to hand over cash and cigarettes. The armed man also stole two bags of chocolate before running out of the store.
Police were contacted and attended the petrol station with local detectives conducting investigations into the robbery.
They are now looking for a man who has only been described as wearing a full-face balaclava, dark clothing and gloves. It is believed he was picked up by a car which was parked nearby.
Investigations into the robbery are continuing and local detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact police.
