Cr Liz Innes asked to remove the words “with regret” from the motion that council note Mr Anderson’s resignation, which Cr Peter Schwarz supported.
“I think it’s petty,” Cr Rob Pollock slammed back.
He said Gosford City Council was the fifth largest local government employer in NSW and that it was a unanimous decision on their part to employ Mr Anderson.
Cr Thomson agreed.
“Yes, it is a matter of regret,” he said, adding Mr Anderson’s contribution to the council.
The motion to remove the words was lost when put to a vote, with only Crs Innes and Schwarz voting for it.
Council will hold an extraordinary meeting next week to consider a consulting firm to manage the recruitment of a new general manager, and who will stand in the job temporarily.
