Batsman Paul Windsor was again the main driving force as his innings of 46 at Surfside helped the Tigers successfully chase down Tuross Head’s total of 119 in just 24 overs.
Petri Patrika, who finished with 17 not out, belted 16 runs in one over to win the match in some style for the Bay.
Patrika accrued the winning runs with a massive six and he didn’t waste any time in getting back to the sheds to celebrate.
“He hit a massive six to win the game and he didn’t even wait around,” Tigers skipper Chad Pickett said.
“He’d walked off the field before the ball had even hit the ground!”
However, it was the in-form Windsor who attracted the most praise from his skipper after yet another outstanding knock from the opening batsman.
“Paul was again our standout batsman and he’d be averaging around 30 so far this season,” Pickett said.
“If he stays right, then we’ve got Paulie Simons coming back in, our line-up is working out nicely because we’ve got two really good openers.”
Tuross Head made a steady start to the match but found it difficult to pick up the run rate due in large part to some impressive Tigers bowling.
Then the wickets started to tumble as Pickett removed Tuross openers Brae Kelly (36) and Dave Felletto (11) in similar fashion.
Murray Cooper, who went on to record figures of 4/14 from his eight overs, then clean bowled Matt Sethi for three to put the Tigers well on top with Tuross at 3/60.
Pickett then picked up his third and final scalp before Shaun Creswell and Niall Pierpoint also got in on the action to leave the visitors in big trouble.
A neat piece of fielding from Creswell led to a run-out before Tuross Head crumbled to all out for 119.
“It was a good performance and our young guys bowled well but the batting got us home,” Pickett said.
“It’s easy to slump when you’re chasing lower totals. I get more nervous chasing 120 than 220.
“But it was good to see the boys learn from last week’s loss against a really good side.”
Meanwhile at Dalmeny Oval, Matt Corbett’s Dalmeny-Narooma side, still without gun players Daniel Simpson and Kyle Field cruised to a 145-run thrashing of Broulee.
Joe Nuggent’s 68 and Corbett’s 20 helped the hosts post a total of 212 before Dean Friskin (3/10) wreaked havoc with the ball to have Broulee all out for 67.
“All the batsmen got a few runs, so that was good,” Corbett said.
