A giant ray has taken the sting out of Burg Thurston’s working week.
Mr Thurston works at Batemans Bay’s Innes Boatshed and has made friends with Nobby the friendly stingray.
“Over time, the stingray got more confident in me,” Mr Thurston said.
“Now I jump in, he shoos the other stingrays off and comes in and glides up my belly.”
That spectacular footage can be seen on The Morning Shift, a film Mr Thurston has made with Scott Innes’ help, and can be viewed below.
“I realised, if my mind was always in the surf while I was working, I was going to miss what is right in front of me, which was the stingrays and how beautiful the boatshed was, and how good my job actually was,” Mr Thurston said.
The film was posted on social media on the weekend and quickly racked up his goal of 1000 viewings.
