They came from Sydney to Sale, and from Wagga Wagga to Wodonga, to play in the annual Eurobodalla Seniors Tennis Tournament at the Moruya Tennis Club last Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The three-day round-robin tournament was for players aged over 35 years, with events in singles, doubles and mixed doubles.
In men’s singles, the ACT’s Phil Higgs was all class in winning his group. Batemans Bay’s Nicholas Smith and Narooma’s Cameron Steele were equally impressive in winning their singles groups.
In women’s singles, Robyn Castle from Sydney dominated her group.
In other results, Steve Goulding teamed with Barry Lymbery to win their men’s doubles group over a strong field. Goulding later teamed with Cameron Steele to take out their combined aged men’s doubles. The father and son team of Bill and Wayne O’Connell also won.
In women’s doubles, Meran Pell and Joan Trevethan were winners, as were Enid Besant-Ryan and Di Buchanan.
Phil Higgs and Enid-Besant Ryan were winners in both mixed and combined aged mixed.
The Brian Smith Memorial Shield, for the most senior singles winner, was presented by Karl Croker to Phil Higgs.
The John Allard Memorial Shield, for the most senior women’s doubles winners, was presented by Libby Ives and Maureen Allard to Helen Milton and Judy Logan.
Organisers were pleased with the 30 per cent increase in entries over the previous year.
