Bermagui lifesavers showed incredible bravery entering five-metre surf off Dickinson Point, Horseshoe Bay, to retrieve a 44-year-old man swept off rocks yesterday.

The man was walking along Dickinson Point when he was swamped by a huge wave at around 10.20am.
He was seen in distress, about 200 metres off shore dangerously close to the rocks.
Two off-duty Bermagui lifesavers, Dan Magrin and Peter Mercieca, went to the aid of the swimmer.
“The men entered the water with only a pair of fins, a body board and a rescue tube to pull the swimmer to the shore,” Far South Coast emergency coordinator Andrew Edmunds said.
“It was incredibly brave given the dangerous surf and minimal equipment.”
Lifesavers Vicki and Warren Marshall responded in an inflatable rescue boat and provided assistance on the shore.
“The man was pulled in to shore in a serious condition and received oxygen therapy on shore,” Mr Edmunds said.
“About half an hour later he was transported to Bega Hospital.”
Rescuer Dan Magrin was also taken to hospital with a minor injury to his leg.
“It seems when he entered the water he sliced his foot on the rocks requiring stitches,” Mr Edmunds said.
The Far South Coast Surf Life Saving Branch will nominate the members for bravery awards.
