The school has nabbed the catering job for the Australian Surf Rowers’ League Open Championships in Broulee this weekend.
North St Café and Bar chef Jane Garland says the students are more than capable of feeding 110 hungry officials and volunteers over three days.
“I’m helping. But they’re doing so well we’re beginning to think they could have done the whole lot,” she said.
Year 12 hospitality students must undertake a compulsory week of work placement as part of the syllabus, according to teacher Tracey Hogg.
“Normally the students are sent out to restaurants and cafés but it takes them out of school for a week. We thought the carnival would be an opportunity to get it all over with in one hit,” she said.

“Getting it all done in time is a bit of a worry, and everyone has different standards and work ethics,” he said.
“But it’s the last time we will work together in a big group, so I’m just trying to enjoy it as much as I can.”
