DURING the junior and senior Eurobodalla Netball matches this week, Eurobodalla Netball's four representative teams, who will be participating in the State Age Championships at Wollongong from June 30 to July 2, were introduced to the Saturday players by Eurobodalla Netball president Pam Williams.

As the players, coaches and managers were introduced they performed a demonstration match to highlight the skills they have learnt during their representative training.
With the 12s playing the 13s, and then the much more experienced 14s taking on the 15s, the progress of representative netball was amply demonstrated.
Although the matches were short, it gave the regular players some hints as to the level of tenacity and skill which will be required next weekend.
With the umpires not being left out of the limelight, umpire's convenor Christine McDonald was assessed for her National C Badge by Eurobodalla Association umpires Lyn Allison (National B Badge), Ros Marion (National B Badge) and Julie Sheers (National C Badge). The panel of umpires were confident that Christine met the criteria to gain her national accreditation.
McDonald's first outing will be to the State Age Championships next weekend, along with Heidi West (national C badge), Lee Connell (national C badge), Bruce King (national C badge) and Lyn Allison (national B badge).
Without the commitment of the umpires to attend the Championships, the teams would not be permitted to enter.
Round seven of the regular competition was completed on Saturday.
In Senior C grade, the Offshore Shooters were just strong enough to hold off the Narooma Power Rangers. Carly Wearing's accurate shooting over the very tall defence of Elise Watson was perhaps the deciding factor this week. Offshore Shooters 35 - Narooma Power Rangers 31
Senior B grade was a very exciting and hard-fought tussle between the Broulee Breakers and Peppers Peter Piper. The "Peter Pan's" that make up the Breakers team (in particular - Karen Lyttle, Sandra Harris and Debbie Enfield) were "on song" and able to use their combined experience to hold off the strong charges of the Peppers girls. Broulee Breaks 44 - Peppers Peter Piper 37.
Senior A grade was the scene for Big Waves young guns to conquer the Narooma Glaciers' experience. The Narooma team could not match the agility of the Waves girls, with many passes from Narooma being challenged and intercepted. Anita Brunhuber and Julieanne Joyce were the outstanding players for Narooma, while Millie Hall and Kaitlin Newcombe were strong for the Waves team. Narooma Glaciers 31 - Big Waves 46.
