HSC students hanging on the line

IT TAKES a lot to get a teenager out of bed at 6am.

But many Eurobodalla Year 12 students may be beaten out of bed only by the sun this morning as the 2004 Higher School Certificate (HSC) results become available at 6am, via SMS and the internet.

The exams finished more than a month ago and it has been a long wait for some anxious students.

Batemans Bay High School HSC student Caitlin Simpson said she hadn't been thinking about the long wait.

"Not really. I've tried not to worry about it," she said yesterday.

Caitlin and her friends whittled away a good chunk of their wait on a holiday in Bali.

Now Caitlin's back in the Bay, working and saving money for next year - and sweating on her results. She will be receiving them by SMS and isn't worried about the early start, just this once.

"I'll wake myself up because I'll be nervous," she said. "The whole day will be spent trying to guess my UAI (University Admissions Index)."
