Eurobodalla Mayor Fergus Thomson said the multipurpose centre was unique to the shire and would provide a platform for the future growth of early childhood and family support services in the Eurobodalla.
"We now have a centre that will enhance child and family-based services not only in
Batemans Bay, but in the wider community," Cr Thomson said.
The Eurobodalla Shire Council building will cater for a number of child-based programs. Users of the centre include the Batemans Bay Preschool (who lease part of the facility),
Batemans Bay Playgroup, Anglicare Toy Library, council's Family Daycare, Special Needs Playgroup, Eurobodalla Family Support Services, and health programs and clinics.
Cr Thomson said that the centre would not have come to fruition but for the cooperation of three levels of government, the preschool and the local community.
"The management committee did a fantastic job in securing State and Federal funding and overseeing the design and construction of the project," he said.
The centre's management committee is extending an open invitation to the
official opening and family fun day.
There will be face painting, play dough, and lots of fun activities for the kids.
Eden Monaro MP Gary Nairn will officially open the Batemans Bay Children and Family Centre at 10.30am.
The centre is located in Melaleuca Crescent, Catalina, behind the Bay High School.
