It’s good to see the warm summer currents have come early. A big thanks to the Durras parents who assisted in pulling the little kids out of the channel and delivering them out the back at Wednesday’s session.
Wave Of The Week to Oscar Mackay - Oscar is one of the youngest surfers and one of the most fearless. His arms are paddling furiously to get out the back, emulating a baby turtle. He still needs help getting the big waves, but once on them he’s determined to ride them all the way to the sand.
How old are you? Five years.
How long have you been surfing? Two years.
What would you do if you were an underwater creature? I would dive into tubes.
What is the favourite thing about where you live? Climbing trees.
What are your three wishes? 1. Go surfing 2. Banana splits car 3. To go to sleep.
What was your worst wipeout? I got smashed when we were all on the big board.
Weekly Performer Award to Hayman Inwards - He has finally understood the secret to surfing, which is staying low and centred over your surfboard. It is good to see him out there surfing every wave properly and paddling independently.
Soulrider Award to Ebony Meyer - Ebony was having a blinder session and catching a monster amount of waves. What struck us was her willingness to help the smaller kids by orientating their surfboards and pulling them through big waves. Awesome work!
Most Improved Award to Jarrod Ward - A few of the boys on Thursdays session were shown a new jump up technique. Jarrod hit the waves with enthusiasm and tried his best to emulate what he practised on the sand. What a success!
