A splendid morning for paddling greeted the Bay Adventure Kayakers who attended Saturday’s time trial at Nelligen.

The trial commenced just as the high tide was turning, so the times for the second lap for those paddling the 10km distance were appreciably slower than the first lap as paddlers had to paddle against a stronger running tide.
A number of new or different craft hit the water, with Andrew Parkinson and Roy Willis paddling their new non-spec ski and medium rec boats respectively. Ian Castell-Brown and Allan Newhouse chose different craft from their usual flotilla, with Ian guiding a single boat around the course and Allan in another of his own-built fleet.
Bay Adventure Kayakers inaugural annual general meeting will be held on December 5 at 10.30am after the time trial. The meeting is to be held at the club’s unofficial headquarters at Café Nelligen.
During the summer season Bay Adventure Kayakers paddle every Saturday from the boat ramp at Nelligen at 8am, with race brief at 7.45pm. All paddlers with any type of kayak, surf ski or canoe are welcome to participate. Contact Roy Willis on 4471 6600.
