Surfair Speedway at Moruya will be the place to be tomorrow when the popular four-cylinder Coastal Cup machines headline a full program of racing action.

Drivers and their cars will arrive from all over NSW to compete in the Coastal Cup, which promises to be a closely-fought treat for motor racing fans.

The cars, which feature highly-modified engines and a superb power-to-weight ratio, will compete in three heats of eight laps, then a 15-lap final.

The Coastal Cup will become a yearly event with a perpetual trophy, and getting these vehicles to Surfair was the catalyst of tomorrow’s meeting.

“These guys contacted us and said they would like to have a run, and we were more than happy to put on a show for them,” Surfair president Neville Britton said.

“We are negotiating with them to host a round of their yearly series as well.”

The Coastal Cup teams will be bringing their own scrutineers and officials, underlining their dedicated approach to the meeting.

They will not be on their own tomorrow, as the under 1600s, street stocks, standard speedway karts, super productions, modifieds and outlaws will be putting on their own spectacles.

Ford versus Holden tribal warfare will come alive when the Aussie sixes take to the track.

A group of drivers from Bega is pledging to roll the Moruya contingent in the junior sedans, and nostalgia buffs are in for a special treat when the 1960s-era rear-mounted 500cc cars take to the track.

Junior speedway karts also promise fast, close racing.

The Surfair gates open at 12.30pm and the racing begins at 4pm. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for pensioners and free for children under 12.
