The PGA National Futures Golf Championships, held at Catalina Country Club from October 29 to November, were once again hailed a success by organisers and participants alike.

Guy Woodman from the UK, with an 11 under par score of 277, was the winner.

Damon Welsford, the ex-Bega competitor who was last year’s champion, could only tie for 14th place this time.

The tournament was a resounding success and was capped off with the official trophy and cheque presentation on the Sunday afternoon, attended by the new president of the Catalina Club, Barrie Ennis, and the Club Captain, Bob Soper. The training co-ordinator for the PGA National Futures, Geoff Stewart, had nothing but praise for the Catalina Club committee, and members who helped with the running of the competition.

The Futures Championship will be held at Catalina again in 2010.
