The Eurobodalla under 20 Jeffrey Cup team completed their campaign on Sunday with a loss to Far South Coast in Bega.
After arriving in Bega with only nine players, Eurobodalla captain Jason Berry lost the toss and was asked to bowl with the numbers growing to 10 when young Bermagui player Rowan Blake arrived 30 minutes after play began.
Despite being down in numbers, they kept Far South Coast to a reasonable score up until the 28th over, when they started to take advantage of the gaps in the field to eventually end up with 264 all out off 49.4 overs.
Eurobodalla bowlers Andy Horsley, Marc Stiller, Rhys Voysey, Nathan Blackburn and Matt Sethi kept the pressure on the FSC batsmen early with some excellent line and length bowling keeping the score to 2/95 off 27 overs.
Andy Horsley made the first breakthrough in the fifth over, bowling Luke Timms for seven with the score on 11. Nathan Blackburn followed up in the eleventh over, trapping Luke Bateman lbw for 13 at 2/39. Jack Billmann was next, again caught by Blackburn off Voysey for 1, giving Voysey the excellent figures of 3-33 off 10.
Reece Wheeler and Sochaki then took the score to 264, when Rowan Blake picked up Sochaki well caught by Horsley for 32 with Wheeler 12n.o.
Voysey and Horsley, who got 3-30, were the best of the bowlers, while Nathan Blackburn picked up two and Feletto and Blake one each.
The run chase began badly with Blackburn caught off Jack Billmann in the first over for two.
Matt Sethi and Andy Horsley put on 33 for the second wicket when Horsley got a rough lbw to Will Robertson for six, followed two balls later by Jason Berry, bowled for 0 with the score at 3-35.
Matt Sethi continued the downward run, going lbw for 14 off Joe Billmann, followed by Nathan Monck, who got a great ball to be bowled for two off Wheeler at 5-43.
Marc Stiller and Zac Wilson put on 13 when Zac ran himself out for three.Voysey and Stiller put on 20 with Stiller doing all the scoring before being caught by Sochaki for a well made 29, while Rhys went soon after, caught by Hunter off Stocker as well, for 0 at 8-86.
This put the two youngest members of the team Feletto (14) and Blake (12) together at the crease and still 178 runs behind. Both the young lads batted extremely well waiting to hit the bad balls and eventually had a partnership of 23 with Feletto caught by Hunter off Stocker for nine and Rowan Blake ending on a solid 11 n.o. with the total ending up at 109.
“It was disappointing to end the rep season, with only 10 players, after a very good win the game before but with the current young crop of players our under 20 team, we can look forward to a successful three to five seasons ahead, with the likes of Stiller, Blackburn, Sethi, Favetta, Voysey, Feletto, Blake, Wilson, two Condons and Sam Lee among others.” Eurobodalla Crciket president Gerry Coloe said.
