A Nerrigundah family received a jolting scare on Tuesday night when a 15 metre tall tree crashed into their house.

Homeowner Colin Brennan said it sounded like something had exploded when the tree smashed through the roof of the Byrnes Rd house at about 9.30pm.
Mr Brennan said he and his two sons were in the lounge room and his daughter was in bed when they heard the tree hit the roof.
“The lights went out ... The power line came down,” he said.
“There was this great big bang and a scream from my daughter.
“We thought something had exploded in the bedroom.”
Mr Brennan said his family was lucky there were no injuries and there wasn’t more damage to the house, an old converted one-room classroom made from hardwood timber.
Mr Brennan said the tree had been on an embankment on the side of the road and had branches removed by the Eurobodalla Shire Council during summer as part of a maintenance program.
“After the rain we’ve had and the great gusts of wind, (the tree) fell down,” he said.
Mr Brennan said SES crews worked for hours on Wednesday to remove the tree.
He said the roof now had a tarp covering the damage as a temporary measure.
A Country Energy spokesperson said a crew removed the service line on Wednesday to allow SES crews to safely remove the tree. Once the tree was removed, power was reconnected.
An SES spokesman said the Nerrigundah incident was the only job SES crews were called to following the strong winds on the South Coast this week. It took them four and a half hours to remove the tree.
