Complaints by residents of a north Batemans Bay tourist park had been checked and some aspects were still under investigation, general manager Paul Anderson told the February’s meeting of Eurobodalla Shire Council’s committees.

The area was formerly known as Cullendulla Caravan Park.
During Public Forum at the November council meeting, park resident Tony Murphy asked several questions about the park.
In response to them on Tuesday, Mr Anderson said the park was registered with council and an application for renewal of its licence had been made for 50 long-term sites, 90 short-term sites and 20 campsites. The new owner was in talks with council regarding an upgrading program.
The park was not registered as an “over 55s park”, nor did such a classification exist in the caravan park regulations.
Mr Anderson said a caravan park operator had the right to vary site arrangements without council approval. Changes in the status of individual sites, though, would require council approval.
In answer to another of Mr Murphy’s questions, he said an annual compliance inspection had not been made. Council had no record of an application for changes to the motel, nor for tree removal. It was possible some trees had been removed as bushfire hazards.
He said the park had been inspected late last month and some filling work found. Investigation of filling was being carried out to determine whether further action was needed.
Councillors adopted his report, but not before Cr Graham Scobie said he had visited the park and wasn’t happy about some aspects, including the motel, access and tree removal.
