The controversial figure, who was gunned down in an execution-style killing while he sat in his black Mercedes Benz in the driveway of his Cremorne home, was involved in a legal battle over the 2007 purchase of a Gerroa property.
Fellow developer Ron Medich bought the property at 16 Crooked River Road, next to the Gerringong Golf Course, for $2.19 million in 2007.
However the purchase resulted in the two property developers feuding over their different involvements, with a legal battle ensuing.
Mr McGurk had many involvements in the property development industry, and for several years was closely associated with Bob Ell, the man behind Leda Holdings, which had a proposal before Shoalhaven City Council to extend the Stockland Nowra shopping centre.
Mr Ell bought land behind the existing shopping centre, which was later taken over along with the extension plans by Stockland.
Former Shoalhaven mayor Greg Watson, who met on occasions with Mr Ell prior to the purchase to discuss development opportunities, said he did not recall Mr McGurk being involved in any development discussions in the Shoalhaven.
When Mr McGurk was arrested and charged with firebombing the home of Adam Tilley, who was also involved in a legal battle with the murder victim, it was Mr Ell who posted the $100,000 bail required to keep him out of jail while awaiting trial.
The case was later dropped.
