Severe thunderstorm warning

The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a severe thunderstorm warning this afternoon for Batemans Bay.

Damaging winds and large hailstones may occur in the warning area and the State Emergency Service advises that people should take appropriate action to avoid personal and property damage.

This includes:

  • Moving cars under cover or away from trees.

  • Secure loose items around houses, yards and balconies.

  • Keep clear of fallen power lines.

  • Unplug computers and appliances.

  • Avoid using the phone during the storm.

  • Stay indoors with children and pets indoors and stay away from windows.

The SES can be contacted in an emergency on 132 500.

The next warning is expected to be issues by the BOM at 6.30pm.
