A new position with Eurobodalla Shire Council carrying a $100,000 salary package is an essential one with the successful applicant to carry great responsibility, according to general manager Paul Anderson.

A Bay Post/Moruya Examiner reader drew attention to the job advertisement in the Sydney Morning Herald on May 23, wondering if the appointment of another “high level manager” was appropriate at a time of rate increases.
However Mr Anderson said he had no doubts it was going to be ratepayers’ money well spent.
“It’s a position that’s going to manage the corporate service section of the organisation, look after all internal services and customer delivery programs,” he said.
“He or she will need to have the ability to provide advice and guidance on such things as asset management, purchasing and supply.”
Mr Anderson said it was a position he had been holding open since he took over 12 months ago, pending a staff restructure that becomes effective from today.
He added that the new post would carry with it some of the work previously done by deputy general manager Peter Tegart, who left last year to become general manager with Bega Valley Shire Council.
There had been 14 applications, Mr Anderson went on, with interviews to start soon. It was hoped to make appointment within a few weeks.
“It should be realised,” Mr Anderson added, “the $100,000 is a package. Superannuation and vehicle allowances will have to be deducted, so the actual salary will be much less than that.”
