Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it a UFO?

A local photographer believes he has uncovered evidence of extraterrestrial life.

Last Thursday night the man, who wishes to remain anonymous, was taking photos of a storm at Burrewarra Point near Guerilla Bay.

It wasn’t until later that he noticed something unusual.

“I downloaded my photos and this particular shot was extremely bright, so I dropped the brightness out of it and added some sharpness,” he said.

“I’ve been bypassing the functions on my camera and using the computer at home to get more shots.”

The local man said he was very excited with the results and took himself off to bed.

“I got back up a bit later and had another look before going back to bed. And then I got up again and had another look, it was only then that I realised there was something in the photo,” he said.

“I zoomed in and had a look, and what instantly caught my attention was the shape - it’s not in any other photos, and it’s not dust.”

While the man preferred to keep his name out of the paper for fear people would think he was a “crackpot”, he did admit he liked to keep an open mind.

“I’ve shown my friends too and they’ve said the same thing,” he said.

“I don’t want my name to get out but would like to instigate other people - maybe someone else saw it, or saw something else.

“It’s not nothing, it’s definitely something.”

When approached about the possibility of the object being a weather balloon, the Canberra Meteorological Office said it had been two and a half years since their last release, but that the HMAS Albatross naval air station at Nowra released balloons twice daily.

However, a spokeswoman for the air station said it was unlikely the photographer had captured one of their balloons.

“There’s not a chance that it would have been one of our balloons,” she said.

“The last one is usually sent up around midday and it only takes a couple of hours maximum for it to get to 40,000 feet or higher. It just depends on at what point the balloon breaks.”

If you look close, you see a typical dome shaped ufo with some possible dormant (tentacles) below the object. If you ask me it could be the same type of ship that took out the wind turbine blade in the UK.

I think if the ufo was infact out in the field of view it would of been lit by indirectly by the lightning. As the mystery black object does not show any sign of this, unfortunately I feel that it has been caused by a loose piece of grit on either within the lens body or on the CCD. Good lightning shot though - dont give up the truth is out there. Sean

Somewhat difficult to tell from that low resolution image. Unless the photographer has a higher resolution image, I'm not convinced, as that could easily of been edited.

Looks like a military aircraft, perhaps even an SR 71 type aircraft, maybe a newer stealth aircraft, but I think almost certainly manmade

I have a picture of a very similar if not the same object from London, 2006. Please contact me so I can send you the picture.

Have you a better resolution for a better opinion? Thanks!

I saw this same object in the sky that same night. I thought it may have been a falling star but it seemed to move too fast. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thought I saw something unusual that night.

This is going to sound crazy but in exactly the same area some years ago, I noticed for 2 to 3 days in a row at around the same time of late afternoon, this tiny isolated piece of storm cloud, almost the same shape as the day before was hovering in the east near the coastline. I thought it very strange at the time and wondered if it was a cover for something behind it.

Hold the eyepiece of a pair of binoculars against the screen and look into the large end, it's not a piece of grit .

Contrarywise, Seanosportz, the object is between the lightning discharge and the camera, thus it is silhouetted against the brighter background. If it was a piece of grit on the sensor, it would show up on other photographs. The similarity to the 2006 pic submitted later is startling.
