Hunt for car chase driver in the Bay

05 Feb, 2010 03:00 AM
Police have been searching for a man, believed to be in his 20s, involved in a car chase in Batemans Bay on Wednesday.

Police attempted to stop a black Holden commodore in Hanging Rock Place at 5.30am.

The driver of the sedan, which had an ACT number plate, refused to stop and pulled on to Beach Rd before turning onto Country Club Drive.

Inspector Garry Huard said the vehicle then continued along Heron Rd before the driver pulled into bushland and ran away.

“He left the vehicle unattended and it rolled back onto police, causing minor damage,” Insp Huard said.

He said the vehicle’s movements had raised suspicion earlier in the evening and police wanted to speak with the driver about incidents he might have been involved in.

He said police were still attempting to locate the driver.
