A report on cycling facilities between Moruya and South Moruya Head will be provided at the next Eurobodalla Shire Council meeting, general manager Paul Anderson told Tuesday’s committee meeting.

He added that funding was being investigated for a proposed memorial seat in South Head Road, but, for safety reasons, it couldn’t be located on the junction with the highway.
Mr Anderson was commenting on an address made to the December council meeting, during Public Forum, by Danielle Brice. Mrs Brice’s son Chris died as a result of injuries when he was hit by a car while he was walking with friends on South Head Rd in August 2008. She, with others, has since been campaigning for improved safety on the road for pedestrians and cyclists.
She asked if a Federal Government grant of $146,000 that the community had helped council secure for work on the road would be matched by council, and could volunteers help with the path?
Then roads and recreation director Warren Sharpe said council had matched the grant with work done from Halyard Drive to Congo Rd. The $146,000 was being spent on the pathway from the highway to Keightley St, with an extra $50,000 from council. Council had also gained another $50,000 from the RTA towards the pathway, Mr Sharpe said.
He added that he would be happy to discuss volunteer help with Mrs Brice.
