Sunshine Bay Public School is one of the region’s schools to benefit, and principal Roy Counsell is happy with the results.
Construction of four classrooms and one special project room is well underway.
“The school celebrates its 25th anniversary at the end of term one,” Mr Counsell said.
“The new brick and mortar buildings will replace the old demountables that have been in place for 25 years.”
Across NSW, more than 2000 public schools have already benefited from the funding.
Work at Sunshine Bay Public School began in term four last year and is expected to be completed by the end of second term this year.
Local tradespeople have been employed and the school has been full of activity over the summer holidays.
“The builders had a short break over Christmas and went back to work for the rest of the holiday,” Mr Counsell said.
NSW continues to lead the nation with the most projects underway as part of the National Stimulus Package. Batemans Bay, Moruya, and Mogo Public Schools are among the schools that have also received funding for new classroom facilities.
