A development Committee decision last month to defer making a determination on the proposed erection of four dwellings in Myamba Parade, Surfside, will come under scrutiny at next Tuesday’s Eurobodalla Shire Council committee meeting.

Councillors Fergus Thomson, Lindsay Brown and Chris Kowal have signed a rescission motion and will recommend refusal of the development application.
Staff had recommended refusal at the October meeting. Development services manager Phil Costello said the land was low-lying and subject to ocean inundation.
The applicant, Jon Dunn for Aymimi Pty Ltd, had submitted a coastal engineering assessment in support of the proposal, he said.
“However the assessment has failed to adequately interpret existing site characteristics, or adopt a satisfactory response to the issue of sea level rise,” Mr Costello pointed out.
“As a result, the hazard level is likely to be much higher than reported, and presents a significant risk to the development.”
During the meeting, that will start at 9.30am with Public Forum, roads director Warren Sharpe will be recommending the renaming of a section of Maulbrooks Road, Mogendoura. He says changing the name of the Mogendoura end to Marchants Rd would help people find addresses.
Mr Sharpe will also be recommending that the caretaker’s cottage on Moruya Showground be advertised for rent.
General manager Paul Anderson will recommend that council nominate a representative on the Batemans Marine Park Advisory Committee. Council’s representative, Neil Mumme, has resigned from the board.
Cr Allan Brown will report on a fireweed control meeting he attended in Nowra last month. The weed is more than an agricultural problem, he says. He’ll also report on a bio-fuel meeting in Bega.
