I’m no climatologist or geologist, so I can’t say whether or not global warming is caused by a human activity or a natural cycle.
What I do believe, however, is that it is a natural cycle that is responsible for NSW’s lack of recent success in the State of Origin. I believe they have picked the best players and coach for the team; it’s just that the current crop of Queenslanders is better.
What we are going through is the same thing Queensland went through in 2003, 2004 and 2005 - the other guys have simply too much firepower.
NSW has good, solid players, but Queensland has brilliant players - Lockyer, Inglis, Thurston, Slater et al, who can add that touch of magic, the sort of magic that can’t be coached into a player.
No one can really be blamed for our losses, it’s a cycle, a cycle that will eventually reverse around, and before you know it, people will be whingeing that NSW is too dominant.
Having said that, I’m blue to the core, and I hope NSW make a dribbler out of me by levelling the series tonight.
